Eros’ Arrow Points Toward Punarvasu New Moon

Love is in the air as we come into a full conjunction between Venus (love & beauty) and Mars (energetic drive & primal desire). Adding to that this New Moon in Punarvasu, and we see Eros’ Arrow striking at True LOVE-DIVINE.

Relationships of all kinds, especially romantic ones, are still very much in the forefront with this new moon. It seems that everyone’s mind (and heart) is on one thing – TRUE LOVE CONNECTION. Sacred Connections are in store to come into a beautiful Divine Union beginning once this New Moon comes into full contact with the Bright Sun, both in Punarvasu.

Punarvasu (the Star of Renewal) is all about the light and goodness returning. There is always movement associated with this Nakshatra, but the movement is always good because it is the essence of growth. With a homey feeling, Punarvasu’s main function is always to return to its goodness safely. It is the feeling you get after you have been on a long journey and now are back home to your preferred and cherished surroundings, where you feel safe and secure. It is at home where we let ourselves truly be as we are, without judgments or criticism. We are free to roam around our safe home haven naked if we choose. That’s the feeling of Punarvasu, safe, secure, good and prosperous. It also means the Return of the Light, since Aditi is the Deity associated with Punarvasu.

Another fun fact about Punarvasu is that the two main bright stars associated with this constellation are considered the twins (brothers or lovers), Castor and Pollux. In the tarot deck, I associate this nakshatra with the major arcana card of the Lovers.

Harmony and nurturing are the two key words to describe the essence of Punarvasu’s nature and functioning. As a rule of thumb, if you have Punarvasu prominent in your natal chart, you can expect both harmony and nurturing to be major themes in your life. Harmony may even be your purpose in this lifetime.

[If Punarvasu is your ascendant lord or atmakarka (soul significator), or if your rising sign is here, you can assume that the statement above is the case; and you have an overwhelming need to nurture and be nurtured. The other two things to look for is Sun or Moon, if either is in this constellation then you would fall into this category too. You can also expect that this lifetime will have a strong component of self-development; and like a fine wine, you will improve with age and experience. So, if this is you, PEACE is your purpose! Speaking from personal experience. I have my ascendant here and I can write a book on just this one asterism. But, I will move on because I don’t want to bore you…see?! Harmony! 😉 ]

The one warning to watch out for is this: watch out for too much idealism. This asterism, if not self-aware, can be too idealistic and has a tendency to philosophize without taking any action toward growth. If this happens, instead of the natural flow of movement and motion, the tendency will be to go in the opposite direction of stagnation. Remember the duality within twins – Castor takes on the role of the more negative while Pollux is more positive. When anything stagnates, it breeds decay. So, make sure you are taking inspired action toward your true love connection and fulfilling your divine purpose.

This is what you could expect for this lunar cycle – if you are on the right course. If you have not been doing the inner work suggested at the last lunar update to release past trauma during the Mula Full Moon, then this may not apply to you. You could hurry up and catch up to enjoy the bounty of Punarvasu! As always, the choice is yours.

The New Moon is exact on Friday, July 9, 2021 at 6:16 PM (9:16 PM EST). You can enjoy the good LOVE-LIGHT vibes offered by this Punarvasu New Moon for at least the next month until the next new moon cycle or better yet, for the remainder of the year…hopefully more. 😉

  • Combination of Sun, Moon and Mercury in the seventh house. – Open for lots of heart-to-heart communication with your loved one(s).
  • Retrograde Jupiter in the third house with Neptune. – Ruler of Punarvasu (Jupiter) is very strong with Neptune (higher form of Venus – although it is known to be nebulous). It’s up to you to put this energy to GOOD use! Great for increased creativity and imagination….and expressing yourself through writing or another form of creative expression (think artistically).
  • Retrograde Saturn with Pluto in the second house. – Values have transformed (or are transforming) and the impulse is to show up more responsibly to match our self-worth. Since Shravana deals with deep listening, and that’s the energy of Saturn now, we are more attuned with our self-worth and true heart’s desire. Soul is speaking; will you listen?
