Purva Phalguni New Moon Loving Comfort

This New Moon in Purva Phalguni is highly indulgent. What lights up your heart? What brings you comfort? What would you like to create? Better yet…with whom would you like to create it? These are the highlights for this beginning Moon cycle. There is work to do. This New Moon signals for us to envision the quality of our creations. Since our creative cycle first begins in the higher planes until it solidifies in the denser physical plane, clarification is necessary.

It’s time to get intimately authentic and crystal clear in order to manifest the luxurious life experience that you’re capable of achieving.

Purva means first or prior (or in this case, I’m linking it with PREPARATION!), as it is symbolic to what comes before something else. The next step after the preparation is enjoying the fruits of the effort. Purva Phalguni is the asterism before the marriage or partnership asterism, Uttara Phalguni. Thus, it is linked with LOVE since love usually comes before marriage. Uttara Phalguni is about the actual marriage or partnership – the legalization of the commitment to each other. (However, that’s not what we are working with now…we are working with the LOVE prior to commitment.)

What LIGHTS you UP???

Love is about expansion. In this material plane, love takes on a materialistic sensuality as symbolized by Venus. In the Greek Olympian Pantheon, Venus is known as Aphrodite, Goddess of Love and Beauty. We can also look to Freya, the Scandinavian Goddess of love, fertility and beauty. Lakshmi ties in well with this chain, as she is the Hindu Goddess of Prosperity and Abundance. Love is abundant and luxurious. It provides us with a comfort like no other. What and who brings you that sense of comfort? What or who inspires your love nature to come through even during the darkest times?

A swinging hammock symbolizes Purva Phalguni. This symbol perfectly illustrates what this Nakshatra is about since love and comfort makes us feel like we can relax and enjoy ourselves. This is about the delight of having the ability to rest and rejuvenate. We can also enjoy the sensual pleasure that comes from swinging in the hammock while the cool summer breeze caresses our skin. After all, the Deity associated with this Nakshatra is all about sensual creature comforts and delight.

Bhaga is one of the twelve Adityas (Solar Deities, son of Aditi – Punarvasu’s Deity). Aryaman is the other Deity associated with the Phalgunis; and perhaps these brother Rays are interchangeable since in a perfect world, marriage IS pleasurable. If Divine Union is truly divine, it must be comfortable and pleasurable. Divine Union, LOVE, is HOME. Just imagine yourself having gone away on a long business trip and then finally coming home to your loved ones (people or pets). Now you can breathe and relax because you are in the COMFORT of your home surrounded by your LOVE(s). All the stress of that business trip just melts away once you are back home. Bhaga (Delight/Pleasure) and Aryaman (congenial Grace) work quite well together. Perhaps that’s the main reason why the ancient Rishis (sages) tied these Nakshatras together.

The creative juices are flowing! It’s a great idea to make good use of this creative potential. Purva Phalguni is highly charged in creative potential since its main goal is to procreate. Another fruit of love is the ability to expand the human race. When two people come together in love, they procreate and become a unit of three (or more). Due to procreation being Purva Phalguni’s main functionality, it is quite social. This means that there’s a strong pull to not only use the creative flow, but also do it with another. This time is potent for social activities besides the inherent envisioning quality.

Based on this pattern in the sky, we can expect lots of activity wanting expression (at least for the next two weeks until the full Moon). It’s a good time to notice what is inspiring you to move forward. Engage with that energy as a way to propel the next creative cycle.

Due to the influence of Bhaga, Purva Phalguni has a tendency to over-indulge. People under this influence may tend to be on the lazy side, but that’s because they enjoy the available sensual comforts. A good rule of thumb for this energy is to figure out how work can be fun.

On the whole, Purva Phalguni is quite balanced and the issues come from not being properly inspired. If you have your natal moon in this Nakshatra, you may tend to wander until you find something that captivates your interest. Then, you are highly passionate in the pursuit of that focal point.

To see in which specific area this transit is effecting your chart, you have to study your D1 and D9. However, if you just want to look at your chart no membership is required.)
